The Pocono Family YMCA Pre-Competitive Swim Team is for children ages 4 to 11 years old that are interested in learning the basic fundamentals of competitive swimming. This 2 times a week Swim Team prepares swimmers for their entry into the Pocono Family YMCA Competitive Swim Team Program. Skills taught include all 4 competitive strokes, racing starts, turns and basic competitive swimming rules. Meets will be available on weekends. Meets are Invitational Meets where swimmer choose their own events and there will be event entry fees. Practices are focused on proper swimming technique through performing drills, balance & comfort in water exercises, turns and starts. Most of the training is focused on kicking and kicking drills. There is no meet requirements or team expectations.
Performance Requirements: Pre-Competitive Swimmers must be able to swim 25 yards of free (front crawl stroke) with rotary breathing & 25 yards on their back.

or Red Cross Level 3 or higher

FLOATATION DEVICES ARE NOT PERMITTED
*Swimmers on Pre-Competitive Swim Team are not able to swim in any winter or summer league meets such as our Winter Team's Penn Del League or Summer Team's Pocono Summer League meets as well as Districts, States, Jo's, Nationals or any other YMCA, USA meets with out joining one of our Competitive Swim Programs. |
