On Saturday March 27 2010, the Pocono YMCA Piranhas Swim Team will host our 7th Annual Swim Marathon event. The proceeds from the Marathon are used to support activities for our swimmers and also to benefit a cause near and dear to our hearts. Some of the past causes have included Spinabifida and Autism research. In past years this event has raised as much as $3500.
We are going to raise funds and awareness for our local VNA / Hospice of Monroe County.
If you would like to support two worthy causes at once, donations are welcome and can be sent to:

The Marathon will be held at the Pocono Mountain West High School on March 27 at 1:30PM. All are welcome to attend and encourage the swimmers. Contact Mike Wolbert at 570 350-2142 with any questions.

URGENT FEMALE FASTSKIN UPDATE - NO MORE "WAVE CHANNELLERS" ALLOWED
February 8, 2010 - Latest news, the WAVE CHANNELLERS (aka bumpies) on the female chest of the FSII's are now illegal - please advise anyone who has purchased them that they might not be able to use them at meet. If anyone has purchased a suit with these from D & J can get a replacement if they were purchased within this month (Feb. 2010).

Just a reminder that Team Pictures are on Monday, February 1st at Pocono Mt West High School - @ 6:30pm
Pictures will begin immediately following the end of the high school meet. To speed things up please have swimmers wear there team suit under their clothes so we don't have to wait for the locker rooms.
Please also bring your team T-shirt. If you do not have a team T-shirt we have them to distribute to those who did not get one yet.
Don't forget to brush your teeth and bring those BIG SMILES TOO!
We will also have a parent meeting since a majority of families will be there.
Even if you do not want individual pictures we want all swimmers present for the TEAM PICTURE!!!

Attached is the flyer thing for the Piranha Mama and Papa T-shirts. If I have the order in by the 24th she can get them to me for Championships soooo I am only giving everyone a week to get the order in. Also, if we get a fairly large order (bigger then 24 pieces, we will save about $2.00 per piece) She will make a donation to the team for the excess money collected if that happens.
Please get this out to the team ASAP so that I can organize the orders and get them placed. THANK YOU
Also, I am faxing the FINAL contract today. I will type up all hotel information this afternoon and get that to you so it can go out tomorrow as well. Team Suits: Swimmers are required to wear an approved team suit, team shirt and cap (if swimmer wears a cap) at meets.

USA MEMBERSHIP RENEWALS AND
NEW REGISTRATIONS for 2010
We have several swimmers who have signed up for USA meets this winter and the following have been just renewed with USA Swimming. Make sure if you have sent your USA membership fee for $57.00 to Sonia Wolbert as soon as possible.
Last year our team had 75 USA Swimming members x 57.00 is over a $4,000 bill which our team will not pay the fees for swimming with out payment.
If you have signed up for a meet in 2010 and we do not have your meet entry fees or your USA membership for the entry due date your entries will not get processed. Collecting of meet entry fees is a constant issue.
IF YOU SINGED UP FOR ANY USA MEETS IN JANUARY OR FEBRUARY AND YOU OWE MEET ENTRY FEES AND / OR YOU HAVE NOT PAID FOR YOUR USA REGISTRATION YOUR ENTRIES WILL NOT GET PROCESS.

where: FRIENDLY'S RESTAURANT, EAST STROUDSBURG, PA (next to Walmart)
when: MONDAY, JANUARY 18th, 2010
time: 5pm-8pm
We have an opportunity to have a very successful fundraiser this night! What can you do to help?!? I am so glad you asked!!!
First, We need to have a minimum of 101 people in order to get the best return possible. Coach Mike has placed a page with 2 flyers on it, on the website for you to print out to pass out to everyone you know. Please get the word out to friends, neighbors, and relatives to come help support our team!
PLEASE NOTE: THE FLYER DOES NOT HAVE TO BE IN-HAND WHEN COMING TO THE RESTAURANT. JUST TELL YOUR HOST/HOSTESS THAT YOU ARE THERE FOR THE PFY SWIM TEAM FUNDRAISER, AND ALL OF THE PEOPLE IN THE PARTY WILL BE COUNTED TOWARD OUR 101 PEOPLE.
Second, You may be thinking "..........well.....it would be really neat to go and support the team, but we have other commitments that night......." Well, are you in luck!?! ANY SALES BETWEEN THE HOURS OF 5-8PM WILL BE COUNTED IN OUR 101 PEOPLE--as long as you say you are there to support the PFY SWIM TEAM.
So, ALL SALES OF TAKE-OUTS, ICE CREAM AT THE SODA FOUNTAIN, OR JUST BUYING HALF-GALLONS OF ICE CREAM OR ICE CREAM CAKES, ARE ALL INCLUDED!!!
Please note: This event will take place regardless of inclement weather. So, dress everyone up, brave the elements, and have a great evening with great friends and great food, for a great cause!
