2009 YMCA PA East / West State Meet

2009 Pennsylvania East-West Swimming Championships

Saturday March 21st and Sunday March 22nd, 2009
Penn State University, McCoy Natatorium

For first time swimmers and parents.....security is tight at this meet.  Parents through one door, swimmers through another.  As swimmers enter through their door, they will give their name, and it will be double checked, and then they will be issued a wristband (similar to hospital bands).  They will swim with these bands on their wrist.  Then the swimmers will be directed to the pool deck.  During the meet, swimmers will NOT be permitted in the grandstands to see parents, nor will parents be permitted on the pool deck.  Do not even try, like I said security is very tight.  The PSU Natatorium can get chilly, so plan accordingly.  The time line for the meet runs very close to what I have below.  YES relays can change.

DO NOT bring glass on the pool deck.  As like Y Districts, we will have cases of bottled water on the pool deck for the athletes.  There is a nice awards presentation at this meet......bring the zoom lens though.  I will be taking digital photo's of all PFY swimmers on the stands, feel free to email me for the photo's.  This meet is so much fun, and this will be my 19th trip as a coach, and the aurora of this meet (especially for those not in High School) is one that will last a lifetime.  Make it special for the swimmers, give them your support they are asking for it.  We need 100% effort from both swimmers and parents.  The coaches will be handing out the State Team swim caps at practice during the week prior to the meet.

Hosted by the Bellefonte Family YMCA and the State College Area YMCA

There will be circle swimming for the first 20 minutes of each session.  Starts and one way sprints will be held at the end of the last warm up block for each session.  An East Field Certified Coach from your team must be on deck to supervise your swimmers during warm-ups.  The practice pool is available during and after warm-ups and the meet for swimmers to have additional warm-up and cool-down time.
